Junior Golfers Take to the Course at Boca Grove to Claim the South Florida Junior PGA Championship Title

BOCA RATON, Fla., June 17, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Boca Grove Golf and Tennis Club was proud to be the host course for the 37^th South Florida Junior PGA Championship that took place on June 15^th and 16^th, 2016 where 96 juniors battled the heat and unpredictable weather to dominate their age brackets and win the illustrious spot to Nationals.

Brett Roberts and Valerie Pacheco - South Florida Junior PGA Championship Overall Champions

The first round on Wednesday brought close finishes for both the boys and girls divisions. Brett Roberts, from Coral Springs, shot a 3-under par round of 69 giving him a two-stroke lead over Lake Worth Native Jordan Reeves, who shot a 1-under par round of 71. Valerie Pacheco, of Hallandale Beach, and Yurika Tanida, of Port St. Lucie, both shot 2-under par 70's, while Jillian Bourdage, of Tamarac, shot a 1-under round of 71.

Mother Nature added to the struggle of Thursday's round with three lightning/rain delays causing the day to be called and titles noted by diverting to Wednesday's scores giving Roberts the boy's title and forcing Pacheco and Tanida to a sudden death match on Friday morning. Pacheco had a birdie on the first hole clenching the South Florida Junior PGA Championship title. Pacheco and Roberts will represent South Florida at the 41^st National Junior PGA Championship at Wannamoisett Country Club in Rumford, Rhode Island on August 9-12, 2016.

Wednesday's round also titled the 12 and under boys and girls age division champions. Alex Dalmau, from Coral Gables, won the boys 12 and under division by eight strokes with a 2-under par 70 while Chloe Kovelesky, of Boca Raton, won the 12 and under girl's division with a 6-over par 78.
