CLEVELAND, April 11, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- This spring, JumpStart's Emerging Talent Network (ETN) is working to connect 11th grade students and 12th grade students from select Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) high schools with internship and job opportunities.
The first ETN "Interview Fair" of 2019 took place on March 15 at the Jerry Sue Thornton Center, facilitating internship interviews between 39 11th grade students from six CMSD schools and 21 different companies across Northeast Ohio. The next interview fair will take place on May 1 and will focus on part-time/full-time employment opportunities for graduating 12th graders.

The ETN was launched in 2017 as part of the KeyBank Business Boost & Build program, powered by JumpStart. The network combines KeyBank's commitment to helping emerging students enter the workforce with JumpStart's experience helping local companies find talent.
The ETN includes career readiness training, 1:1 consultation, internship placement and permanent job placement. The ETN has also created a private job board to connect emerging 12th graders with job placement opportunities and is offering employer-focused training events designed to help companies prepare for the next generation of employees. To date, the network has provided internship training for more than 230 students and employer-focused training for more than 80 companies. In the summer of 2018, the program placed more than 40 students into paid internships at 20 companies across Northeast Ohio.
"KeyBank Foundation invests in helping communities thrive and it looks to partner with organizations which will deliver," said Lorraine Vega, Senior Vice President, Corporate Philanthropy, KeyBank. "The Emerging Talent Network is a partnership with JumpStart and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, through which there is an opportunity to transform lives by creating environments where students can succeed, and where workplaces can access a new talent base."
"Year one was all about building strong relationships with schools and local companies and getting the internship part of the network up and running," added Zerrine Bailey, JumpStart's ETN Leader. "In year two, we've focused heavily on building out the job placement part of the network to connect emerging students with permanent positions."
Over four years, the Emerging Talent Network's goal is to place 250 CMSD students in internships and 280 in permanent jobs.
