ST. LOUIS, June 25, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Many Americans will be on the move this Independence Day weekend, based on early rental reservation data from all three Enterprise Holdings' brands – Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car. The combined brands are seeing an 11 percent year-over-year spike in advance reservations at the airport, and Enterprise Rent-A-Car's neighborhood locations are reporting double-digit growth in reservations, as well.
With average monthly rentals up since the start of the season in May, the company is introducing more than 250,000 new vehicles into its fleet to ensure that Enterprise, National and Alamo customers can rent the latest-model, lowest-mileage vehicles available. These added cars will, for the first time ever, push the size of the company's rental fleet in the U.S. to more than 1 million vehicles – twice as many as any other car rental company in the United States.
The new vehicles range from such luxury brands as BMW, Audi, Mercedes and Lincoln to redesigned Jeep and Cadillac SUVs, fuel-efficient Hyundai and Mini Cooper models, and Ford and Chevy convertibles. In addition, a variety of pickup trucks and cargo vans will join the fleet to help customers in need of extra hauling capacity this season.
On average, the vehicles in the Enterprise Holdings fleet have been driven less than 16,000 miles.
"We were already offering our customers the latest-model, lowest-mileage selection of vehicles available," said Chrissy Taylor Broughton, senior vice president of North American operations for Enterprise Holdings, the world's largest car rental company. "This influx of 250,000 new cars makes our fleet even bigger and better. We're ready to keep our customers riding in style this summer travel season."
With more than 6,000 offices located within 15 miles of 90 percent of the U.S. population, Enterprise Holdings' extensive neighborhood and airport network is uniquely positioned to provide customers with unmatched access to rental vehicles and a renowned customer service experience.
In fact, National Car Rental, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and Alamo Rent A Car took the three highest-ranked car rental brand spots in the J.D. Power 2013 North American Rental Car Satisfaction StudySM, which surveyed leisure and business travelers who rented vehicles at North American airports. J.D. Power also recognized Enterprise Rent-A-Car and National Car Rental as two of its 2014 Customer Champions, basing the distinction on customer feedback, opinions and perceptions.
