Julie Stephenson Appointed Chief Underwriting Officer For CNA Commercial
CHICAGO, Aug. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CNA today announced the appointment of Julie Stephenson as senior vice president and chief underwriting officer for CNA Commercial, effective September 1, 2015. In this role, Julie will be responsible for underwriting oversight and governance for all products and lines of business written within Commercial, and will report to Kevin Leidwinger, president and chief operating officer, CNA Commercial, and will be based in Chicago.
"Julie's 18 years of proven leadership and insurance expertise make her well suited to further strengthen CNA's Commercial lines operations," Leidwinger said.
Most recently, Julie served as senior vice president and global liability manager for the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies, where she was responsible for providing strategic direction for a $1.3 billion global portfolio of General Liability, Errors & Omissions and Environmental business. Prior to that role, she served in a number of management positions at Chubb, including vice president and global liability manager.
Julie holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University.
Julie succeeds John Beckman, who has accepted the role of senior vice president and chief transformation officer for CNA Commercial. In this new leadership role, John will be responsible for leading large scale transformative projects and thought leadership that will enable Commercial to reach its long term goals. John will continue reporting to Kevin Leidwinger.
