Starting with the utilization of only one truck, Roadrunner Towing and Recovery was founded in 1969 by Smart's late husband, James. After James' death in 2001, Smart took over the business. Having grown substantially under her leadership, Roadrunner has expanded into a successful fleet of 15 trucks and now includes a newly opened second location. To further her professional development, Smart is a member of the Louisiana Motor Transport Association and the National Association of Professional Women, which recognized her as a member of the VIP Woman of the Year Circle. Additionally, in 2000, Smart was the first female recipient of the Davidge award and she continues to give back to her community.
When Smart is not working, she enjoys volunteering her time as a Board Member with Special Olympics and is charitable towards organizations such as Dreams Come True, Stuff the Bus and Child Advocacy Center Celebrity Waiters. As Founder of Baton Rouge Area Victims Empowered, in her spare time, Smart enjoys visiting Florida with friends.
