Judicial Watch Obtains Additional Top Secret Records Detailing Congressional Briefings of CIA Enhanced Interrogation Techniques

WASHINGTON, June 4 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has received hundreds of pages of declassified "Top Secret" Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) memoranda detailing Congressional notifications and briefings concerning enhanced interrogation techniques and detention operations. The records were produced to Judicial Watch pursuant to a court order, as a result of its Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit in the US District Court for the District of Columbia: (Judicial Watch, Inc. v. Central Intelligence Agency, Case No. 09-1303 (GK) (D. District of Columbia).

Judicial Watch submitted a FOIA request to the CIA on May 15, 2009, seeking to obtain records regarding CIA briefings of Rep. Nancy Pelosi and other members of Congress discussing "enhanced interrogation techniques" and/or "harsh interrogation techniques" and suspected and/or known terrorists.
