Jud Sommer Joins Crowell & Moring as Chair of Public Policy Group, Boosts Government Affairs Capabilities
WASHINGTON, June 26, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Crowell & Moring LLP is pleased to announce the addition of Judah C. "Jud" Sommer, a Washington, D.C.-based senior counsel who will chair the firm's growing Public Policy Group. Sommer most recently served as senior vice president of Government Affairs for UnitedHealth Group where he was responsible for building and managing the organization's operations and relationships at all levels of the government, including with legislative, executive, and regulatory officials. Prior to working at UnitedHealth Group, Sommer was the managing director of Goldman Sachs & Co., where he created, oversaw, and led the corporate government affairs functions for the organization. He was also formerly a partner in the law firm Stroock & Stroock & Lavan and previously served in various government positions for Senator Jacob K. Javits (R-NY) in the U.S. Senate. His addition signals continued strategic growth for the firm's Public Policy Group.

Sommer received his J.D. from New York University School of Law, and a B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
