Distinguished surgical oncologist offers advanced treatment options for gastrointestinal malignancies

CHICAGO, Jan. 6, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center (Midwestern) is proud to announce that Juan Sanabria, MD, MSc, FRCSC, FACS, has joined the hospital as a surgical oncologist focusing on the treatment of gastrointestinal malignancies including liver cancer, pancreatic cancer, gall bladder cancer and kidney cancer.  Originally from Bogotá, Columbia, Dr. Sanabria earned his medical degree from the Colegio Mayor de Ntra Sra del Rosario in addition to completing the MD International Medical Graduate Program at the University of Toronto, St Michael's Hospital. Dr. Sanabria also completed a fellowship in the Epidemiology Unit G.I. Cancer Registry at Mount Sinai Hospital, as well as a fellowship in the HPB and Transplant Surgery Multi-Organ Transplant Unit at the University of Toronto.

Doctor Sanabria is an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and has authored countless manuscripts. He previously served as the Director of Pancreas Transplant at University Hospitals Case Medical Center in Cleveland, OH. Additionally, he served as an Assistant Professor of Surgery and an Assistant Professor of Nutrition and Metabolism at Case WR University School of Medicine.
