Journalism Vision: Gabriel Snyder and Alberto Ibarguen
WASHINGTON, Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Two prominent journalists will outline their visions for journalism at the National Press Foundation's annual awards dinner on Wednesday, Feb. 18.
Gabriel Snyder, editor-in-chief of The New Republic, and Alberto Ibargüen, president of the Knight Foundation, will give short talks to the audience of 1,000 media, policymakers and corporate communications.
"The evening's featured remarks and award winners' acceptances speeches are sure to remind us all about the vitality of journalism in our society," said Heather C. Dahl, chairman of the NPF board of directors. "I very much hope that in their words, we will be inspired to keep going out and giving the best to our communities — and that the evening's celebration will also inspire others to reach higher and dig deeper in their reporting."
Ibargüen will also receive NPF's prestigious W.M. Kiplinger Award for Distinguished Contributions to Journalism. Nine other awards will be given to honor the best in journalism, including George Stephanopoulos of ABC News and Gilbert Bailon of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The full list of winners is here.
The National Press Foundation is a nonprofit journalism organization which conducts no-cost programs for journalists in the U.S., internationally and online, and hosts a robust collection of reporting resources on its website, www.nationalpress.org.
The awards will be presented at NPF's 32nd annual gala awards dinner on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the Washington Hilton Hotel. To purchase tickets, contact Jessica Jean-Francois at [email protected], or call 202-663-7282.
