Jostens and The Nature Conservancy Partner to Support Worldwide Reforestation
MINNEAPOLIS, Oct. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jostens, the leading producer of class rings, yearbooks and student-created content, today announced a partnership with The Nature Conservancy in support of reforestation efforts to ensure forest survival for future generations. As part of the partnership, Jostens will support the Conservancy's 'Plant a Billion Trees' program.
The Plant a Billion Trees program is turning the tide on deforestation by planting trees and bringing forests back from the brink. Tree by tree, acre by acre, The Nature Conservancy is working to ensure forests are here for future generations.
Students across the U.S. will have the opportunity to join Jostens in raising up to $75,000 to help the environment through yearbook and class ring customization offerings now through June 30, 2015. When a student purchases the leaf icon for the cover of their Jostens yearbook, Jostens will donate $1 to the Plant A Billion Trees program (up to $50,000). When a student purchases the Nature Conservancy maple leaf Design-A-Side® as one of their class ring panels, Jostens will donate $5 to the Plant A Billion Trees program (up to $25,000).
Jostens will also support reforestation efforts through its Elements Collection™, a cap and gown line that supports environmental sustainability. Jostens will donate $1 to The Nature Conservancy for each unique Jostens-issued code from its Elements Collection® graduation gown hang tag that is redeemed on its web site between September 15, 2014 and June 30, 2015.
"As America's leading yearbook producer and a purchaser, manufacturer, and recycler of U.S. paper for more than 100 years, we recognize the importance of protecting forests while still ensuring the ability to utilize paper for our operations," said Chuck Mooty, president and CEO, Jostens. "We are thrilled to partner with The Nature Conservancy to further the work they are doing to plant one billion trees by 2025 to conserve our forests."
"Forests sustain life around the planet. They filter water, clean our air, support communities of people and provide habitat for thousands of important plant and animal species," said Bill Toomey, The Conservancy's director of forest health protection. "We are grateful for this collaboration with Jostens to help restore the world's most critical forests."
