With over 40 years of experience and a former midwife in England, Josephine Muxlow is an advanced practice nurse that specializes in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing. Inspired as a young child, Muxlow was always interested in the "psychological well-being of people" and had a strong desire to help people. Muxlow believes that is important to self-reflect and know who you are. She stresses the importance of being "kind to yourself." She believes that one must be able to empty themselves in order to be "grounded and passionate."
A firm believer that spirituality, mentors, and her desire in striving for excellence contributed to her success, Muxlow is a Distinguished member of the Clinical Nurse Specialist Association of Canada; College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia; the New Brunswick Association of Registered Nurses; the Association of Registered Nurses of Prince Edward Island; the Guidelines International Network and the College of Registered Nurses of Ontario.
Throughout her educational career, Muxlow graduated the Medway School of Nursing in the United Kingdom obtaining her Nursing Diploma and becoming a State Registered Nurse. Muxlow also successfully completed the First and Second Examinations of the Central Midwives Board.
Later, she graduated with her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing in 1990 from the School of Nursing at Dalhousie University and finally earned her Master of Science Degree with a Psychiatric/Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist concentration in 1993 from Boston College in Massachusetts. As a licensed registered nurse, Muxlow is certified as a Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse and when she is not working, Muxlow enjoys meditation, cooking, gardening, crocheting, and embroidering.
