This Sunday, May 6th, Jordan's Furniture and the Department of Children and Families (DCF) will celebrate DCF youth graduates from the Class of 2012. The event will be hosted by Eliot Tatelman and Jordan's Furniture at their Reading store. The evening includes dinner, entertainment, and an awards program to acknowledge the great achievements of these youth. Each youth will receive a Certificate of Achievement, along with a gift from Jordan's, including an Adidas sports bag, a Red Sox long-sleeve tee-shirt, a Red Sox cap, a TJX store gift card, a Target store gift card, and a cell phone. Buses will bring guests from the Western part of the state to the event.
Eliot Tatelman and Jordan's Furniture have been sponsoring this achievement celebration for foster youth since 2002, when over 75 celebrants from the DCF Metro Region were invited to the IMAX Theater in Natick. In 2007, the event grew and youth from across the state joined in the celebration. The celebration is now held in Reading to accommodate the number of youth, their foster parents, siblings, and social workers who gather to celebrate their academic achievements each May. Over 200 graduates will attend this Sunday.
