Jordan's Furniture honors graduates in foster care at Reading Store
Over 225 youth earn diplomas and are honored at the 2015 Youth Achievement Celebration at Jordan's Furniture
READING, Mass., April 30, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- This Sunday, May 3rd from 7pm to 9pm, Jordan's Furniture will celebrate youth in foster care who are graduates from the Class of 2015. The statewide event will take place at the Jordan's store in Reading, MA. It will be hosted by Eliot Tatelman, Jordan's President and CEO. The evening includes food, entertainment, and an awards program to acknowledge the academic achievements thus far of the graduates. During the program in the IMAX Theater, guests will see an emotional video highlighting many of the honored youth, hear from speakers with inspirational messages and receive a gift bag which includes an Adidas sports bag, a Red Sox long-sleeve tee-shirt, a TJX store gift card, and a Target store gift card. Buses will bring guests from the Western part of the state to the event.
Eliot Tatelman and Jordan's Furniture have been sponsoring this achievement celebration for foster youth since 2002, when over 75 celebrants were invited to the IMAX Theater in Natick. In 2007, the event grew and youth from across the state joined in the celebration. The celebration is now held in Reading to accommodate the number of youth, their foster parents, siblings, and social workers who gather to celebrate their academic achievements each May. Over 225 graduates will attend this Sunday. "Each year, this event gets bigger and bigger. We are thrilled to continue the tradition of honoring the youth," said Tatelman. "It is important to acknowledge the academic achievements of these great kids, many who have made it through some adverse conditions. It is our way to show our support for them."
The evening will conclude with a private screening of the newly-released Avengers: Age of Ulton in IMAX 3D for the honored youth and their families.
