Jopari Testifies On Attachment Standards Before NCVHS Subcommittee
Flexible Application to Property & Casualty Industry and eBill Mandated Rules
CONCORD, Calif., June 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jopari Solutions, Inc., a principal supplier of integrated medical transaction EDI services to the Property & Casualty and healthcare industries, will testify this week on the transaction standards for healthcare attachments before the Subcommittee on Standards of the National Committee on Viral and health Statistics (NCVHS), a Congressionally established advisory body to the department of Health and Human Services. Don St. Jacques, Jopari Senior Vice President, will present as part of a distinguished healthcare industry panel.
The Hearing convenes tomorrow, June 10th, at HHS in Washington, D.C. and will be webcast live. This Hearing is available to the public at http://www.ncvhs.hhs.gov/140610ag.htm, and will be accessible subsequently as an archived broadcast. Mr. St. Jacques' testimony can be viewed at www.jopari.com.
Jopari will report that many of the health care providers, vendors and payers engaged in Property and Casualty attachment processing are the same entities submitting and processing identical X12 standard transactions today for Government and Commercial Carriers. Jopari has been processing HIPAA aligned attachments for P&C Payers since 2007, and currently processes over 1 million attachments per month. Payers report administrative savings up to 30%, while Providers are averaging 75% first time clean claim submission and 30-50% overall savings.
Recommendations Jopari will offer to the Subcommittee include:
- A flexible approach to adoption of ASC X12 275, HL7 standard transactions and their acknowledgements applicable to all lines of health care business;
- Allow for an agnostic approach to method of transport in order to accommodate for low tech to high tech stakeholders;
- Collaborative education across all industry sectors making the case that electronic attachments reduce costs, improve care and make good business sense.
Concludes Mr. St. Jacques: "We strongly believe in one EDI workflow for all payers, all lines of business and products, to ensure increased adoption by all parties. This will effectively remove unnecessary administrative costs from the healthcare system. In this respect, EDI standard transactions must be viewed as an end-to-end cycle, not in isolation."
