CHICAGO, Feb. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) at Midwestern Regional Medical Center (Midwestern) is proud to announce that Jonathan Kiev, MD, FACS, has joined the hospital as a thoracic surgeon specializing in advanced and minimally invasive surgical procedures to treat cancers of the lung. Dr. Kiev earned his medical degree from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans. He completed a surgical internship at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey and a surgical residency at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. Dr. Kiev also completed a cardiothoracic surgery fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Loma Linda, California and a minimally invasive thoracic surgery fellowship at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. Most recently he completed a fellowship in advanced thoracic surgery at Mayo Clinic.

As part of the CTCA team Dr. Kiev will consult with medical oncologists and patients on surgical treatment options for lung cancer as well as other cancers that have spread to the lungs. Dr. Kiev will also perform surgery to treat esophageal cancer and tumors involving mediastinal structures.

In addition, he contributed to the Johns Hopkins Manual of Cardiothoracic Surgery and served as a guest reviewer for The American Journal of Surgery and The American Surgeon. Dr. Kiev is also a member of numerous professional associations, including the American College of Surgeons, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons.
