"Mendeley goes beyond a technology platform – we are helping to create a movement for academic and industry researchers who want to collaborate with like-minded people and discover research trends," said Jan Reichelt, co-founder of Mendeley. "Jon's experience working in industries that are on the cusp of digital innovation, such as education and music, will enhance our ability to grow an online research platform that is fundamentally changing the speed and nature of the research process."
Jonathan joins London-headquartered Mendeley having previously built up the Jack Welch Management Institute (JWMI), an online education venture founded by the former General Electric CEO, where he served as Chief Operating Officer. Prior to that, Jonathan was a consultant in the media practice at McKinsey & Company after spending 10 years running his own talent management company.
"Having spent the last decade in the music and entertainment industries, I see the immense creative potential that digital distribution and social media can bring to the research space. By embracing these innovations, Mendeley's platform allows researchers to work smarter, faster, and more collaboratively," said Jonathan Keidan. "As a result, we expect that Mendeley will ultimately result in faster progress in science, medicine and engineering. That means life-saving drugs and more advanced products can come to market in much shorter timeframes. And that has implications for each and every one of us."
