Jonathan A. Mason Sr., International President Of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. To Lead Harlem's Historic African American Day Parade
President Mason joins a stellar group of international leaders to serve as Grand Marshall for one of the country's longest running parades and festival. This year's event is celebrating its 45th year in existence.
NEW YORK, Sept. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jonathan A. Mason Sr., International President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. (PBS) has been selected to serve as the Grand Marshall of Harlem's historic African American Day Parade. The parade and festival, one of the country's longest running events of its type, is scheduled for Sunday, September 21, 2014 at 12 noon. In his role as Grand Marshall, Mason joins a stellar group of local and international leaders including the Reverend Al Sharpton, Congressman Charles Rangel, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio, former New York State Governor David Patterson, former New York City Mayor David Dinkins, Dr. Adelaide Sanford, Lillian Roberts and Minister Abdul Hafeez Muhammed of Mosque #7, all who are also serving as Grand Marshalls for the event. The parade kicks off at 112th Street and Adam Clayton Powell, Jr. Boulevard, and ends at 136th Street.

"Having just commemorated the successful Centennial Celebration of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. in July, I am blessed to be a part of this historic parade." Mason serves as the Director of Sales for 77WABC Radio and Radio 103.9 FM, New York's new Urban Adult Contemporary radio station. He is one of the youngest to serve as International President of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
Members of PBS and its sister organization, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. (ZPB) are scheduled to take part in the event. A significant presence of royal blue and white, the official colors of the two organizations, is expected along the parade's route. Those in attendance can expect to be treated to a show of "stepping and strolling," by members of the two African American Greek-lettered organizations.
