Join Free Speech TV's Summer Membership Drive to Help Raise Funds for Election Coverage
DENVER, June 22, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Free Speech TV will be hosting their Summer Membership Drive from June 25-July 1 to help raise funds to prepare the multimedia network for this fall's election coverage from an independent media source.
To help kick off the membership drive, FSTV will be premiering new documentaries and interviews from the progressive community. These documentaries such as Secrecy, Kingdom of Survival, and Ethos, offer viewers an alternative perspective on right-wing, union-busting rhetoric, national economic controversies and green technology. They are also featuring interviews with influential, individual voices like Noam Chomsky and a lecture by speaker and author Cornel West as well as coverage of the 2012 Netroots Nation Conference, where politicians, economists, and theorists met in Providence, R.I., to discuss the country's most pressing issues.
"FSTV remains independent of government and corporate interests and relies on viewer support to carry us through these tumultuous times," Executive Director Don Rojas explains. He went on to add, "FSTV is concerned about a media climate focused on attack ads and a presidential election that doesn't address issues relevant to the working and middle class." Rojas believes a successful fundraiser will allow independent media to play a pivotal role in the coming months.
Viewers who use this opportunity to become a member of the station will be a valuable part of the planning for our 2012 election coverage. Viewers can tune in to DIRECTV channel 348, DISH Network channel 9415, ROKU or by visiting freespeech.org.
