DEARBORN, Mich., Aug. 31, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Carhartt, America's premium workwear brand since 1889, is conducting a nationwide clothing drive at its 30 company stores in partnership with One Warm Coat, an organization that provides clothing to those in need, free of charge. These consumer-driven donations, along with Carhartt workwear products, will be delivered to the people affected by Hurricane Harvey in Texas and Louisiana.
Carhartt aims to serve and protect hardworking people, and encourages anyone interested in lending a hand to donate gently used clothing items over the next several months. For a complete list of Carhartt company stores, please visit the following link: https://stores.carhartt.com/
"I speak for everyone at Carhartt when I say our sincere thoughts are with the hardworking people of Texas and Louisiana as they continue to battle severe weather and historic flooding," said Mark Valade, chairman and CEO at Carhartt. "It's critical that those affected by this storm have dry clothes on their backs and access to basic essentials while communities and organizations work to get men, women, and children back on their feet as quickly as possible. It's difficult to comprehend the scope of this disaster, which is why Carhartt is offering support in the ongoing response, relief, and recovery efforts."
In addition to the clothing drive, Carhartt is making product donations to Convoy of Hope – a disaster relief organization providing assistance and supplies to the affected areas – as well as SkillsUSA chapters in Texas and Louisiana. The carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and other building trade skills that SkillsUSA members have learned are essential in assisting with the rebuilding efforts. Carhartt has partnered with SkillsUSA since 2000 as the organization works to ensure America has the skilled workforce it needs to compete globally.
To further support disaster relief, Carhartt is making a monetary donation to Team Rubicon, a disaster response organization that will deploy military veterans and first responders to assist Houston and other affected communities as they recover from the catastrophic flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. The donation will feed thousands of volunteers, purchase volunteer deployment kits, deploy strike teams, and build forward operating bases.
