Johnsonville and Uber Offer On-Demand Sausage Meals for Chicagoans Sunday, Nov. 8
Special delivery features grandmas in customized tiny homes delivering free sausage meals
SHEBOYGAN, Wis., Nov. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Grandmas in their own customized tiny homes will roam the streets of Chicago Sunday, Nov. 8, delivering free homemade sausage meals and a one of a kind experience, thanks to Johnsonville and Uber.
These real-life Italian grandmas – referred to as "Sausage Nonnas" – are promoting Sausage Sunday, a time to gather around the table and enjoy delicious sausage dinners with family. Chicagoans can get a free Nonna-made meal by requesting a delivery from Nonna, through the Uber app.
The partnership marks the first time Johnsonville and Uber have collaborated, and is currently only available in select Chicago areas and while supplies last.
How it works:
- On Sunday, November 8, Johnsonville's "Sausage Nonnas" will deliver their own Johnsonville Sausage specialty -- Sausage Rigatoni, Lasagna or Italian Sausage and Meatballs.
- This special group of grandmas will be traveling around in customized tiny Nonna homes, driven by an Uber partner.
- From 2-6 PM on Sunday, Chicagoans can request their Sausage Nonna directly through the Uber app by simply selecting the "Nonnas" option on the home screen and track their delivery as the tiny house icon nears.
"Delivering homemade sausage meals throughout the city of Chicago is great in and of itself, but having authentic Italian Nonnas cook and deliver those meals raises the bar to a whole new level," said Ryan Pociask, Senior Director of Marketing at Johnsonville. "We are proud to have the opportunity to collaborate with Uber on this project and are looking forward to a fun-filled Sunday."
"Uber is always on the look-out for fun and unique partnerships that delight our users," said Amy Friedlander Hoffman, Head of Experiential Marketing at Uber. "How better to bring joy to Chicago than delivering warm, personable Italian grandmas in tiny homes with free, home-cooked meals on demand?"
