Partnership allows buildings to become smarter, more efficient and connected
MILWAUKEE, March 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Johnson Controls announced today that it has joined the Cisco® Digital Ceiling community as a founding building automation partner. The Digital Ceiling framework provides a platform that delivers better user experiences through the convergence of the IT network and building technologies, including lighting, heating, cooling, security, motion detection, and other sensors and actuators.
"Building owners and operators are looking to us to identify how technology can support their business outcomes, reduce costs and minimize risks," said Jim Nannini, vice president, North America Building Wide Systems Integration (BWSI), Johnson Controls. "As more data becomes available, Johnson Controls' system integration capabilities allow building owners and operators to make more insightful decisions for smarter, connected and secure buildings."
Johnson Controls shares Cisco's belief that the Digital Ceiling framework offers building owners and operators one way to apply the benefits of the Internet of Things throughout facilities, and create "transformative new experiences" for building users that will significantly improve the productivity, safety and comfort of building occupants.
"Cisco is excited to continue to build on our growing relationship with Johnson Controls and welcome them as one of our founding partners to help bring the Digital Ceiling to life," said Tony Shakib, vice president, IoT verticals business unit, Cisco. "The company's leadership position as one of the most experienced building integrators, and its extensive line card of building technologies and customer relationships, will help shape and accelerate this business transformation."
Johnson Controls and Cisco have a long-standing history of successful collaboration to drive real business value for customers, and have been working together in a global alliance since 2008, focused on helping enable the seamless integration of building and information technologies.
