MILWAUKEE, Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Global multi-industrial company Johnson Controls today announced R. Bruce McDonald, most recently the company's executive vice president and chief financial officer, has been named executive vice president and vice chairman, effective immediately. McDonald will move into a new vice chairman's role which is designed to drive operational and financial performance within the businesses while also directing specific enterprise functions and strategic initiatives, including: procurement, corporate development, investor relations, enterprise ERP implementation, and responsibility for businesses held as discontinued operations.

McDonald joined Johnson Controls in 2001. He was appointed vice president and chief financial officer in 2005 and named executive vice president in 2006. Prior to Johnson Controls, McDonald held a variety of financial positions of increasing responsibility at Ernst & Young and Varity Corporation, which was acquired by TRW where he held the position of vice president, Finance. He received a Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University, and he is a chartered accountant and a certified public accountant.
Brian Stief has been appointed executive vice president and chief financial officer of Johnson Controls, effective immediately. Stief most recently served as vice president and corporate controller, responsible for global finance functions, financial planning and analysis and corporate taxation. Prior to joining Johnson Controls in 2010, he was a partner at Pricewaterhouse Coopers, where he spent more than 30 years serving the firm's largest clients and held various regional and managing partner roles. He has a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance and accounting from the University of Iowa.
