Film lovers, critics and movie viewers from around the world select 100 Viewers' Choice Awards at www.movie-voters.com which is the online voting site for the Green Globe Film Awards. Leading actors, movies and filmmakers will be presented awards in the categories of major motion picture, environmental, humanitarian, animated and international films. The 2010 International Category Theme is "Asian Films." The Grand Sponsor of the event, the Westin Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, will be hosting the Green Globe Film Awards and Emperor's Dreams Dinner Gala on March 23, 2010 in the California Ballroom with a sit-down dinner banquet and surprise performances by Hollywood's and Asia's top entertainers.
A celebrity tribute to the late award-winning Japanese film director Akira Kurosawa on the 100th anniversary of his birth will be a highlight of the evening's events. Directors such as Steven Spielberg, Francis Ford Coppola, George Lucas and Martin Scorsese were greatly impacted by the work of Kurosawa. It has been said that John Woo includes Akira Kurosawa's Seven Samurai as one of his three favorite films and that he made this classic a required viewing for members of his film crew who were not familiar with Kurosawa during the filming of the Red Cliff series.
