John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary Will Honor Gloria Gebbia And Colonel Alexander Stojadinovic, MD At Annual Membership Luncheon
SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The John Wayne Cancer Institute Auxiliary (JWCIA) will honor Gloria Gebbia, President of the Associates for Breast and Prostate Cancer Studies, and Colonel Alexander Stojadinovic, MD, FACS at their Annual Membership Luncheon and Holiday Boutique, October 18, 2012 at the Beverly Hills Hotel.
Gloria Gebbia, President of the Associates for Breast and Prostate Cancer Studies, which is affiliated with the John Wayne Cancer Institute, will receive the Angel Award. In addition to her wide ranging philanthropic work, Ms. Gebbia has a successful background in television film. Gloria and her family are owners of a successful brokerage firm, StockCross Financial, Inc., with national headquarters in Beverly Hills and branches throughout the United States.
This year's Public Service Award will be presented to Alexander Stojadinovic, MD, FACS. Dr. Stojadinovic is not only an outstanding surgical oncologist and cancer researcher, but he also serves the United States as a Colonel in the United States Army Medical Corps. He is a Professor of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda and Gastrointestinal Cancer Program Leader at the United States Military Cancer Institute. At Walter Reed National Military Center, Dr. Stojadinovic serves as Principal Investigator at the Department of Surgery; Medical Director of the Complex Wound and Limb Salvage Center; Director of the Combat Wound Initiative Translational Research Program and Surgical Oncologist. He has been recognized for his work by receiving prestigious academic awards as well as two Bronze Star Medals.
