John McCue to Lead Deloitte's Energy & Resources Industry and Power & Utilities Sector
Deloitte Also Names Marlene Motyka as its Alternative Energy Leader
WASHINGTON, May 11, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Deloitte has appointed John McCue as the leader of its energy & resources industry group in the United States. In addition, Deloitte has named McCue as the head of its U.S. power & utilities sector.
McCue succeeds Greg Aliff in both roles. Aliff, a senior partner and vice chairman in the energy & resources industry group, will focus on serving Deloitte's largest energy clients.
McCue has held a number of leadership positions throughout the energy & resources industry group during his 24 years with Deloitte. He has served as the U.S. consulting leader for Deloitte's power & utilities sector for the past eight years, growing the practice by more than 300 percent. McCue has also served as lead client service partner for an impressive roster of top-tier power and utility companies, leading many of the major utility mergers over the past 15 years. Prior to joining Deloitte, McCue spent four years as a petroleum and reservoir engineer with Amoco Production Company.
He received both a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and a master's degree in business administration from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Penn.
"John is uniquely qualified for his new roles given his experience in both the power and utilities, and oil and gas industries," said Karen Mazer, vice chairman and the managing principal of U.S. industries, Deloitte LLP. "John is an active member of our energy leadership team, serving some of our most important energy clients. The industry is poised for major change and transition over the next several years, and John's vision of the future will ensure a fresh perspective as he continues to position our energy practice as the professional services leader in a dynamic energy marketplace."
In addition, Deloitte has named Marlene Motyka as its U.S. alternative energy leader. Motyka, a principal in the business valuation practice of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP, has also served as its national leader for the U.S. power & utilities sector.
Motyka brings 17 years of engineering and consulting background to her new role, which entails providing deep sector experience and leading the broad spectrum of Deloitte's services into alternative energy providers, as well as broadening Deloitte's eminence in the area of alternative energy.
"Marlene's extensive background performing valuations and financial consulting for renewable energy projects and power and utilities companies gives her a unique insight into the complex problems facing organizations today," said Mazer. "Her wide and deep experience will help Deloitte better advise clients as they conduct business and plan for future growth."
Motyka joined Deloitte in 1996 and has since supervised and performed a variety of valuation and consulting engagements for renewable energy and fossil fired generation projects. As Deloitte's sustainability and climate change leader for the energy and resources industry, she has also advised clients on the impact of carbon regulation on valuations and financial reporting and led a team which completed Deloitte's greenhouse gas inventory baseline calculation and subsequent analysis.
In addition, Motyka led the development of Deloitte's Women Leaders in the Energy Industry program and has also served as leader of Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP's Women's Initiative Network, which focuses on attracting and advancing women. She is a member of the Financial Women's Association.
She earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University and a master's degree in business administration from Rutgers University.
