John Hancock Hires Long-Term Care Industry Veteran Scott Williams As Vice President, LTC Insurance Sales and Distribution
BOSTON, March 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- John Hancock announces that Scott Williams will join the company this month as vice president, Long-Term Care Insurance Sales and Distribution. In this role, Williams will be responsible for expanding long-term care insurance sales in multiple channels and will report to Greg Mack, senior vice president, Sales and Distribution.
"We are thrilled to have Scott on our team," said Mack. "His length and breadth of experience in the field will be invaluable as we work to maintain and grow our role as a leader in the industry. From his strong ability to foster relationships with distributors, to his knowledge of how to make the sales process easy and efficient, Scott will help us as we look to expand the role LTC insurance plays in the financial planning process and in the lives of our insureds and their families."
Last year, John Hancock introduced a new generation long-term care insurance policy, Performance LTC. With an emphasis on stability, transparency and affordability, Performance LTC represents a significant breakthrough in long-term care insurance. Performance LTC policies are designed to reflect company experience in a more timely manner than previous industry designs, and to greatly reduce the customer's risk of a sudden and dramatic premium change in the future. Williams will help the company to grow its market share by expanding the distribution of the Performance LTC product line.
With nearly 25 years in insurance and financial services, Williams most recently served as the president of the MarketPlace Group for LTCI Partners, a national long-term care insurance wholesaler, for about two and a half years.
Prior to that, Williams served as vice president of long-term care insurance sales at John Hancock. Williams served in a variety of roles including as a member of the team that grew Hancock's career agency sales of long-term care insurance from $5 million to $95 million. He also worked to build independent distribution of long-term care insurance through banks, broker dealers, wire houses, specialized career agencies and a network of managing general agents.
At John Hancock, Williams was involved in all aspects of the long-term care insurance product design process, developing broker-friendly back office and underwriting processes with an emphasis on the use of technology in the sales process from education to application.
He is a graduate of Illinois State University with both a BS in Finance and an MBA.
