John Hancock College Savings' Back-to-School Campaign Continues Focus on Education
Effort Includes Materials to Help Advisers Discuss Saving for College with Clients
BOSTON, Sept. 5, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- John Hancock College Savings today launched a "Back to School" campaign for advisers with materials and tools they can use when talking with their clients about saving for college.
"We're always focused on providing advisers with resources they can use to help their clients best manage saving for college," said Carey Foran Hoch, general manager of John Hancock College Savings. "Following a great spring education effort on financial aid, we're using back-to-school time as another opportunity to educate on saving and budgeting."
Cornerstones of John Hancock's campaign include conversation starters and client leave-behinds which can be used to get a college savings discussion going. Items include:
- Moonjar™ money bank: Save, Spend, Share – these banks have three partitions to help kids learn to budget money into different compartments for different purposes
- Mailings highlighting sales opportunities and conversation starters
Throughout the campaign, John Hancock College Savings also will be distributing adviser materials with information on how to use the conversation starters, other sales ideas and product information.
"With national attention on the mountain of college debt faced by recent graduates, we want to provide resources to help parents of future college students so their families won't end up in that situation," said Hoch.
John Hancock's earlier educational campaign included financial aid resources for clients. Its bi-annual college savings magazine, Admission, was solely devoted to financial aid, as is the financial aid section on its website with resources such as links to the FAFSA website and form; financial aid overview; list of resources covering college costs and funding, application tips, different types of aid and loans; scholarship and grant information and state financial aid websites and forms.
"We want to help parents be successful in reaching their college savings goals – so we'll keep working to help advisers reach out to them," she said.
