John Compton, Former President of PepsiCo, Joins Clayton, Dubilier & Rice as Advisor
NEW YORK, Sept. 19, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Clayton, Dubilier & Rice ("CD&R") today announced the appointment of John Compton as a CD&R Operating Advisor, effective immediately. Mr. Compton is a 29-year veteran and former President of PepsiCo, Inc. ("PepsiCo"). At CD&R, Mr. Compton joins an established team of business leaders who bring senior-level operational experience to the Firm's investment activities.
While at PepsiCo, the world's 2nd largest food and beverage company with over 250,000 employees in 220 countries, Mr. Compton led a number of significant initiatives that drove corporate innovation and transformation. In 2012, the company achieved 5% global net revenue growth and, over the course of his tenure as President, delivered productivity gains of over $1 billion. Substantial improvements during this time in the company's global supply chain, information systems, procurement, marketing services and corporate strategy helped push company revenues in excess of $65 billion and operating profits to over $9 billion.

Mr. Compton's career at PepsiCo Inc. started at Frito-Lay in 1983. In 2002, after serving in positions of increasing responsibility in a variety of operational and sales capacities, he was appointed Vice Chairman and President of Frito-Lay North America. Mr. Compton went on to serve as CEO of PepsiCo Americas Foods ("PAF"), which included Frito-Lay North America, Quaker Oats brands, and all of PepsiCo's Latin American food and snack businesses. He became President of PepsiCo in 2011.

Mr. Compton is also the former Chief Executive Officer of Pilot Flying J Corporation. He currently serves on the board of First Horizon National Corporation and was previously on the board of Pepsi Bottling Group Inc. In 2009, he was named a "CEO of Tomorrow" by BusinessWeek.
Mr. Compton received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from the University of Tennessee.
