John Bogle, Founder of the Vanguard Group, to receive 2016 PA Society Gold Medal

ERDENHEIM, Pa., Sept. 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- John Bogle, founder and former CEO of the Vanguard Group, will receive the 2016 Pennsylvania Society Gold Medal for Distinguished Achievement. Bogle will be presented the award at the Waldorf Astoria New York on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the Society's annual Holiday Dinner.
"John Bogle exemplifies the integrity and spirit that the Gold Medal award stands for," said Roger Richards, President of The Pennsylvania Society. The Society's December dinner is an annual gathering of business and public figures as well as Society members from around the world. The Gold Medal for Distinguished Achievement was founded in 1908 in commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the Society. Every year, it is awarded to a prominent person in recognition of leadership, citizenship and contributions to the arts, science, education and industry.

John Bogle is Founder of The Vanguard Group, Inc., and President of the Bogle Financial Markets Research Center. He created Vanguard in 1974 and served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until 1996 and Senior Chairman until 2000. He graduated from Princeton University with a degree in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, in 1951.
