Joel Eckhause Joins Renew Financial as Chief Operating Officer
Veteran Financial Services Executive Brings a Wealth of Consumer Lending and Operations Experience to the Nation's Leading Provider of PACE Financing
OAKLAND, Calif., Dec. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Renew Financial, the inventor of Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) financing and a leading provider of financing for home improvements, announced today that Joel Eckhause has joined the firm as Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Eckhause brings to Renew Financial a rare breadth and depth of experience in financial services and consumer lending. During the course of his 20-year career—from Ford Motor Company and HSBC, to Capital One and Bank of the West—Mr. Eckhause led teams responsible for product and pricing, emerging technology, marketing, credit risk, operational leadership and business unit strategy. He's also served on the leadership teams of four residential lending businesses.
"We are delighted to welcome Joel to our team at Renew Financial," said Cisco DeVries, CEO of Renew Financial. "He brings an extraordinary breadth of experience that will enable us to scale our business aggressively and reliably, while also maintaining our core focus on offering best-in-class consumer protections to the thousands of homeowners who choose PACE."
Mr. Eckhause joins Renew Financial in its mission to empower business owners and homeowners to increase the efficiency and resilience of their properties. Renew Financial's PACE programs make it easier for property owners to afford critical improvements—like energy efficiency, water conservation, seismic upgrades, renewable energy and hurricane-hardening—and then pay for those improvements over time as a voluntary line item on their property tax bill.
During the course of his career, Mr. Eckhause has led the scale-up of numerous consumer lending products and platforms. Most recently at Bank of the West, Mr. Eckhause served as Senior Vice President and Head of Residential and Unsecured Lending. His purview included product and pricing, P&L management, direct to consumer lending, strategy and innovation for mortgage, home equity and unsecured lending. Prior to joining Bank of the West, Mr. Eckhause served as the head of Home Loans Servicing & Default for Capital One. In this capacity, he built and managed several business teams overseeing core servicing, collections, loss mitigation, recoveries, and the operational command center.
Renew Financial has been a national leader in PACE financing since 2008 and has played a central role in establishing a robust regulatory framework for PACE programs across the country. PACE is one of the fastest growing financing industries in the U.S. and has empowered more than 180,000 American families to make energy upgrades and resiliency improvements to their homes. As a 100% privately financed program, PACE is widely supported for its ability to improve people's lives, save homeowners money on their utility bills and insurance premiums, create jobs and reduce greenhouse-gas emissions – all without a single dollar of taxpayer funds.
