JOC Exchange is a multilingual web platform that allows sellers of ocean container capacity (such as Ocean Carriers or NVOCCs) to sell capacity to their invited customers. The seller posts available capacity and rates, and offers its buying customers the ability to secure space and enter into a binding contract. All transactions are conducted electronically, hosted securely and the service is accessible 24/7.
The service is designed to simplify the process for buyers to review available capacity and to secure it with a few mouse clicks. JOC Exchange is expected to bring significant efficiencies to the process of marketing, selling and buying containerized ocean capacity.
John Day, CEO of UBM Global Trade/The Journal of Commerce said:
"The benefits and efficiencies of buying and selling, electronically (e-commerce), are widely understood: major sellers of ocean capacity have looked forward, publicly, to the development of this channel in the containerized ocean freight market. Here at The Journal of Commerce we are dedicated to making the market for the transportation of containerized cargoes as efficient as possible for the benefit of both sellers and buyers of container space, and we are proud to continue the roll out of JOC Exchange to the industry - it offers an exceptional, simple, buyer experience backed with efficient tools for sellers to reach out to their customers, communicate capacity availability and rates, lower administrative costs, improve yield management, and secure sales. We are delighted De Well Group are embracing this intelligent technology to meet their global business objectives."
Executives at De Well Group said:
"We believe in making it easy for our customers to do business with us and we believe in efficiency. JOC Exchange fits into our strategy, allowing us to instantly communicate rates and capacity to our valued customers, and giving them the ability to buy that capacity. Today, we invite our customers to view our Trans-Pacific Eastbound (Shanghai to all U.S. Ports) available capacity and rates, and to secure space instantly, online. We are excited about being a part of such a pioneering venture, one that will change the way our industry does business."
