Joan Byrd Appointed as Vice President of Integrated Care Management

PORTLAND, Ore., March 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Regence is pleased to announce the hiring of Joan Byrd as vice president of Integrated Care Management. Byrd, a health care executive with more than 20 years experience, will lead Regence's continued efforts to reduce health care spending and improving members' health.

In this role within the Health Care Services division, Byrd will lead and oversee efforts to reduce claims trends attributable to utilization of services, while developing competitive programs that resonate in the marketplace. Byrd's efforts will ensure that members receive the personal attention and care they deserve. This, as they improve their wellness and take ownership of their health care spending.

Byrd comes to Regence from Health Net, Inc., where she held the position of Clinical Operations and Health Care Services Officer. There, she was responsible for leading care management, utilization management, and quality management programs across multiple states and product lines.

Prior to joining Health Net, Inc., Joan held senior leadership positions with LA Care Health Plan, PacifiCare Health Systems, Camber Companies, LLC. and the Motion Picture and Television Fund.

Byrd holds a Bachelor's in Nursing from the University of Southern California and an MBA from Pepperdine University.
