Jo Harrington Calkins is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional

LEXINGTON, Ky., June 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jo Harrington Calkins is recognized by Continental Who's Who as a Pinnacle Professional in the field of Research and Development as a result of her role prior to retirement as the Director of Research with Palmetto Health.

With over fifty years of experience in Biochemistry and Virology, Jo has exceptional knowledge in the fields of Cancer Virus Research as well as DNA Research. As Director of Clinical Research at Palmetto Health, the teaching hospital for USC School of Medicine, Jo established the Clinical Research Program which provided support services to the medical investigator including all document submissions for Institutional Review Board (IRB) and FDA approval and study coordination by certified research nurses. Throughout her career, Jo worked to collect samples from patients with chronic infectious diseases that can be used by investigators as de-identified DNA along with all patient information allowed by HIPPA privacy regulations.

Jo earned her Ph.D. in Biomedical Science, Microbiology/Immunology from the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. She also holds a B.S. Degree from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Jo is presently a member of the International Society of Clinical Research Professionals (ACRP); International Society of Research Administrators (SRA); Who's Who in American Universities and Colleges; as well as the Pacemaker Organization of Outstanding Senior Women at University of Colorado.

In her spare time, Jo enjoys Traveling; Networking; Reading; and Spending Time with Family.
