JLM Couture Acquires Temporary Restraining Order Against Wedding Dress Counterfeiters
NEW YORK, March 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Leading multi-label bridal house, JLM Couture Inc. filed a civil lawsuit (Civil Action no. 18–CV –1655) in the U.S. District Court for Southern District of New York against 90 sellers of counterfeit wedding dresses. The Court recently granted JLM's request for a temporary restraining order against such counterfeit sellers, which requires that the sellers' storefronts and financial accounts be frozen.
Customers and authorized retailers alerted JLM about third-party sellers pawning off counterfeit dresses on online marketplace websites. The company notes that approximately 70 of the counterfeit dresses were knockoff versions of dresses from the Hayley Paige division of JLM Couture, including the Blush by Hayley Paige and Jim Hjelm collections, as well as the Tara Keely and Alvina Valenta collections, all under JLM Couture.
Joseph L. Murphy, president and CEO of JLM Couture said, "We are encouraged that our legal efforts, along with the vigilance of our retailers, both domestically and internationally, has led to the exposure and disruption of this theft." He said, "JLM will continue to invest in protecting its brands against counterfeiters."
To validate authenticity of a JLM product or report counterfeits, JLM Couture encourages all brides and retailers to email [email protected] or call customer support at 1-800-924-6475. To verify whether a website is an authorized retailer, please contact 1-800-686-7880.
