Jim Mitchell Promoted to Chief Operating Officer of Yulex Corporation
Oversees the Yulex Lone Butte Facility Expansion along with New Hire Recruitment and Training
CHANDLER, Ariz., May 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Yulex Corporation, a manufacturer of biobased elastomer products derived from guayule, announced today that Jim Mitchell, formally the company's Vice President of Technology Development, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer. His new responsibilities include overseeing operations at both of the Yulex facilities, one in Maricopa, AZ and the other in the Lone Butte Industrial Park in Chandler, AZ. He will be focusing his attention in the upcoming months on the current expansion process at the Lone Butte facility.
The facility at Lone Butte is the home of the Yulex production agriculture, process research, process development, engineering and the production, packaging and shipping of materials. All Yulex products are derived from a desert plant called guayule (why-you-lee) that is grown in commercial farms throughout southern Arizona. The plant produces natural rubber and resins used in the manufacturing of products for the industrial, commercial and medical industries. The company also produces cellulosic feedstocks, which are combusted to produce bioenergy for regional utilization.
"Jim has been a valuable asset in the growth and operational excellence of Yulex, increasing operational efficiency for Yulex's facility and equipment by nearly 500 percent," stated Jeff Martin, Yulex President and CEO. "His extensive experience in product and business development will be of great value to the Company as we enter our next evolution of growth."
As part of the expansion, 12 new process operators have been hired from the surrounding communities. Half of the new employees are from the Gila River Indian Community, an area that also encompasses Lone Butte Industrial Park. Jim has developed valuable training programs for the new employees. They will receive on-the-job training to learn how to properly and safely operate the specialized equipment. Yulex has chosen to hire only local employees as part of their dedication to their community.
