Jim Demitrieus, CEO of EyeLock, Invited to White House Cyber Security Event
WASHINGTON, June 5, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- President Barack Obama has made cyber security an integral issue when discussing the overall security of the United States. To ensure that the U.S. remains on the cutting edge, on Wednesday, June 6, in Washington, D.C., his administration will convene a gathering of the nation's top minds and corporate leaders to discuss the major cyber security issues affecting the economy and United States' national security. Jim Demitrieus, Chief Executive Officer of EyeLock Inc., was hand-selected to participate in these discussions and share his insights. He will be among business leaders and senior Administration officials, including representatives from the White House Office, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Executive Office of the President (EOP).
Attendees and speakers will discuss strategies to create "Jobs of the Future" in cyber security. Additionally, private sector and government officials will have the opportunity to engage one another and share perspectives on key cyber security issues. Participants from the business community will also be informed about upcoming U.S. Government policies and projects related to cyber security workforce development.
"Cyber security breaches and hackers are posing very serious threats to not only our personal data, but our national security as well," said Demitrieus. "Our mission is to help top policy makers and cyber security decision makers understand the weaknesses of our current systems – smart cards, usernames and passwords, etc. – which continue to be abused and leave us exposed time and time again. The future belongs to biometrics; we cannot keep relying on these tried and failed methods. Biometrics is experiencing tremendous growth and will play an integral role in changing the way consumers interact and authenticate their identities across their trusted digital networks from banking to healthcare. It's important that the U.S. continues to recognize cyber security as the major threat it is, but now it's time to step up our efforts on addressing it."
