Jim Amos Joins Motion Picture Studio STX Entertainment As Senior Vice President Of Distribution

BURBANK, Calif., April 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Veteran film distribution executive Jim Amos has joined motion picture and television studio STX Entertainment as Senior Vice President of Theatrical Distribution, it was announced today by Kevin Grayson, President, Domestic Distribution for the STX Entertainment Motion Picture Group.
In his new role, Amos will report to Grayson in selling all STX Entertainment titles to exhibitors nationwide. The studio, which handles its own production, marketing and distribution of its theatrical projects, is rapidly ramping up and has recently revealed it will release 12 to 15 major motion pictures a year beginning in 2016. STX Entertainment is delivering on its promise to be a significant presence in the distribution landscape as it has already dated four films.

Amos previously spent nearly 30 years in distribution at Sony Pictures Entertainment working in a variety of roles, most notably as President of Domestic Distribution from 2009 until 2013. Throughout his tenure with the company, Amos worked on more than 50 films that each grossed more than $100 million at the domestic box office, including such titles as Skyfall, Casino Royale, and the Spider-Man and Men in Black franchises.
Amos currently serves on the board of directors of the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation and previously served as its Treasurer. In addition Amos is an active member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Amos was awarded The Nat Stern Outstanding Service Award in 2007 by the Motion Picture Club and in 2011 received the prestigious Show 'E' Award at ShowEast, which recognizes accomplishments and dedication to the industry.
Amos most recently served as Vice President of Distribution at alternative content leader Fathom Events.
In addition to Amos, the studio is strategically assembling a highly targeted team of distinguished industry distribution veterans to join Grayson and Amos, among them Mark Mulcahy and Robert Springer.
As STX Entertainment's Vice President of In-Theater Marketing, Mark Mulcahy brings over three decades of film and exhibition experience to the studio. He spent 15 years leading Paramount Pictures' in-theater marketing unit where he pioneered ground-breaking standards for integrated marketing in lobbies and at concession stands, including Annual Popcorn Bag Programs and Interactive Trade Show Booths at ShowEast and ShoWest. Mulcahy is known for elevating project pictures with custom circuit promotions and is widely regarded for raising the bar for the services provided to theatre owners by studio in-theater marketing teams. Most recently, he helped build the Gold Class/iPic Theaters brand in the United States, overseeing the upscale chain's presence through media, publicity, promotions, social media and websites. Before joining STX, he was VP of Exhibitor Relations for The Weinstein Company, where he worked on recent films such as Silver Linings Playbook, Django Unchained, The Imitation Game and Paddington.
Robert Springer will serve as STX Entertainment's Vice President of Theatrical Distribution and Operations. Springer is known as a thought leader who has utilized innovations in information technology and business intelligence to develop new distribution management systems. He has a record of leadership in business operations, IT innovation and driving change in entertainment data systems for top studios including Paramount Pictures, Relativity Media and Overture Films, among others. Springer's career highlights include spearheading the efforts of Rentrak's first international systems for Brazil, Hong Kong, Mexico and others. He also modernized sales operations and reporting at Paramount Pictures, where he led the development of new technology that provided for real-time data access and significantly improved analytical capabilities. Springer most recently served as Senior Vice President & Product Manager at Cinedigm Theatrical Distribution Systems, and was previously Senior VP and Head of Technology for Relativity Media.
