"Adding the ability to distribute through well-established global distribution systems such as Sabre is an important step towards expanding our market reach. We are committed to making our low fares accessible to as many travelers as possible and contributing to the growth of the travel industry in Japan," said Miyuki Suzuki, chief executive officer, Jetstar Japan.
With this agreement, Jetstar Japan will be able to reach out to new markets including the high-yield corporate channel. Sabre's StandardConnect is integrated into the normal Sabre display, enabling agents to immediately book the carrier's content without training on new formats or workflows.
"In the past low cost carriers traditionally have not distributed through GDSs but this trend has been changing, with many of these carriers realizing the extended reach that GDSs such as Sabre can provide to them," said Hans Belle, vice president and general manager, Asia Pacific, Sabre Travel Network.
