Jetstar Airways Selects Pratt & Whitney EcoPower® Engine Wash Provided By John Holland Aviation Services
SINGAPORE, Nov. 3, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- MRO ASIA -- Jetstar Airways has signed a long-term agreement with John Holland Aviation Services for Pratt & Whitney's environmentally responsible EcoPower® engine wash service on the airline's V2500 engines powering its fleet of Australian based A320 and A321 aircraft. John Holland Aviation Services is Pratt & Whitney's EcoPower franchise partner located in Melbourne, Australia. Pratt & Whitney is a United Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX) company.
"We switched from a traditional engine wash method to the EcoPower engine wash because of the significant environmental and operational benefits the service provides," said Chris Snook, executive manager Engineering, Jetstar Airways. "EcoPower engine wash will improve our operational efficiency and decrease our emissions."
"We originally provided Jetstar Airways an engine wash service using traditional methods. We are excited to now provide this service using the EcoPower system because it provides multi-faceted benefits to airline operators, the service providers and the environment," said Andrew Henderson, general manager, John Holland Aviation Services. "We are convinced that the EcoPower system with its many unique features, including water recycling and wash residue collection will become the new standard of environmentally responsible and efficient jet engine water washing in Australia."
"Pratt & Whitney developed EcoPower engine wash as a closed-loop system to meet the requirements of the most environmentally stringent airports," said Andrew Tanner, vice president, Product Line Management, Pratt & Whitney. "The washes can be performed conveniently at the gate, which means Jetstar no longer has to tow their aircraft to an engine wash bay."
