This performance is a dual celebration highlighting JetBlue's one year anniversary in Long Island City, NY and Lady Antebellum's single "Downtown" reaching #1 on the Country radio charts. With Manhattan as their backdrop, Lady Antebellum will perform their #1 hit "Downtown" as well as additional songs and new music off their upcoming album. Select fans and contest winners will receive special access to this unique rooftop set by the GRAMMY award winning group.
JetBlue has partnered with Capitol Records to provide some of Lady Antebellum's biggest fans from across the country with access to this once-in-a-lifetime performance. Fans will meet Lady Antebellum in person and spend the weekend in downtown New York City. Winners will receive passes to the concert (winner plus a guest) and travel accommodations.
"JetBlue has been a great partner in music and this promotion with Lady Antebellum is a unique and perfect backdrop as we celebrate their new album and #1 single 'Downtown,'" says Tom Lord, Universal Music Group Nashville's vice president of marketing.
"We congratulate Lady Antebellum on their hit single and are excited that the band will help us celebrate our one year anniversary at our Long Island City Support Center," said Lisa Borromeo, JetBlue's director of brand management and advertising. "This exclusive concert series was designed to surprise our customers with performances by some of today's hottest artists. We are thrilled to step out of T5 and provide some of the group's top fans with unprecedented access to this multi-platinum group."
Lady Antebellum's upcoming CD "Golden" was figuratively and literally born on the move. During the band's 2012 Own The Night World Tour, Lady Antebellum made a point of experimenting with its road band as the miles of travel piled up. That behind-the-scenes interaction inspired much of the music on "Golden," an instantly infectious project in which Lady Antebellum discovered new edge for its already-successful foundation. "Downtown," the CD's funky lead single, shows a new direction as it quickly became the fastest chart-topping single in the band's career. Since their 2006 inception, the group had risen quickly to become country music's most influential group. Lady Antebellum won the Vocal Group of the Year honor from both the Country Music Association and the Academy of Country Music three times in a row. Nine of the band's singles went gold, with four surpassing the platinum mark. "Need You Now" went on to sell over seven million downloads, according to the RIAA. Additionally, "Need You Now" claimed five of the trio's seven career GRAMMY wins in 2011, including the all-genre "Record of the Year" and "Song of the Year."
Since 2010, JetBlue's Live From T5 concert series has not only served as a launching pad for emerging artists but enhanced the travel experience with live entertainment for customers traveling through JetBlue's Terminal 5. These shows have featured performances by an array of artists across musical genres including Phillip Phillips, The Wanted, Taylor Swift, Ellie Goulding, Il Volo, Jason Derulo, James Blunt, Sarah McLachlan and Daughtry.
