BOSTON, June 16, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Boston's largest carrier, JetBlue Airways (Nasdaq: JBLU), today announced it's making it easier for New Englanders to visit the U.S. Virgin Islands with plans to launch five weekly flights between Boston Logan International Airport and St. Thomas International Airport (STT) effective December 15, 2011. The southbound flight to St. Thomas will operate non-stop, and the northbound flight to Boston will operate via San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Additionally, Boston customers will also be able to reach St. Croix, the airline's 69th destination, on JetBlue flights connecting through San Juan.

Since launching service in Boston in 2004, JetBlue has added an average of five new destinations per year, and by December 2011 the airline plans to offer non-stop service to 43 destinations across the country and throughout the Caribbean and Mexico. No airline has ever served as many destinations in Logan's entire history as an airport.
Over the last two years, JetBlue has enjoyed exponential growth in Boston, with a 30 percent increase in daily departures in the summer of 2010 versus 2009, and an additional 25 percent growth planned for this year. The carrier recently launched four daily flights from Logan to Newark on May 4, seasonal daily non-stop service to Portland, Ore. on May 26 and summer service to Oakland, Calif. On June 17, JetBlue will begin the only non-stop service from Boston to Santiago, D.R. three times weekly.
Customers connecting through Boston on JetBlue from select destinations can take advantage of convenient onward service to Europe and beyond on JetBlue's partner airlines Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Lufthansa and Virgin Atlantic, or to destinations throughout New England and the Caribbean with Cape Air.
