Jesus Omar Belloso Finds Relief from Chronic Pain at the Spine Institute Northwest
Belloso, a 49-year-old mechanical worker, has been able to get back to his work and his family thanks to minimally invasive spine surgery from Dr. Solomon Kamson.
BOTHELL, Wash., May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Before finding the Spine Institute Northwest, Jesus Omar Belloso was suffering from "such a pain that I would not wish it even to my worst enemy." A pinched nerve caused Belloso to have back pain that radiated through his extremities, causing numbness and impairment. His pain was so intense that he could not comfortably perform basic activities like driving or even sleeping, and the lack of sensation made it difficult to move his hands and fingers.
Though Belloso was the one who endured the physical pain, he says that, "The person that suffered the most was my wife, because she had to drive and many times I gave up helping her with the children, because I couldn't pick them up … I stopped many activities." He also was unable to work, which he affected Belloso and his family "not only health wise" but also in emotional and economic terms. In pain nearly all the time, Belloso most wanted to simply be able to "smile again and regain the joy of being able to move my arms, my legs, and to discover that life still existed and be happy."
After more conservative treatments failed to relieve his pain, Belloso was referred to the Spine Institute Northwest. Still, the idea of undergoing back surgery caused him trepidation. Traditionally, spine surgery has involved 'open back' procedures that require large incisions – and Belloso did not like the idea of "being cut." The idea of having surgery gave him considerable trepidation. Talking with Spine Institute Northwest founder Dr. Solomon Kamson, and researching Dr. Kamson's background online, gave Belloso the confidence to move forward. He remembers that Dr. Kamson "showed me with a pencil, how small the hole was going to be behind the neck, and that motivated me." Knowing that he would not need a large incision made a big difference for Belloso, and he went forward with Minimally Invasive (MIS) Cervical Decompression and Endoscopic Nerve Excision.
Belloso recommends that people suffering from chronic back pain look to Dr. Kamson and the Spine Institute Northwest for relief. "I never imagined that there was a place as good as this," he says. In the months since his minimally invasive spine surgery, Belloso went from a regular pain level of anywhere from 7 to 10 to a level of just 2. He is continuing to feel better and get back to his family life and his work. "My family is feeling happy because I'm not suffering like I was suffering before the operation," Belloso says. And as for himself, well, he's smiling again.
