Jenny Craig Renews Relationship with Volumetrics® Developer Dr. Barbara Rolls, Ph.D.
Revolutionary Volumetrics approach helps clients build and maintain healthy eating habits for long-term success
CARLSBAD, Calif., July 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Jenny Craig, one of the world's leading authorities on weight management, announced today a renewed relationship with Dr. Barbara Rolls, Ph.D., author of the newly released book, The Ultimate Volumetrics Diet, and professor of nutritional sciences at The Pennsylvania State University. Jenny Craig became the only weight loss organization with the exclusive rights to use the Volumetrics approach – which encourages clients to fill their plates with fruits and vegetables to feel more satisfied while keeping their calorie intake under control – in 2008.
"Volumetrics is a main component of Jenny's program, which is designed to help clients lose weight by creating a healthy relationship with food, building a fun, active lifestyle and developing a balanced approach to living," said Dana Fiser, Global CEO of Jenny Craig. "During their one-on-one consultations, our clients learn how to incorporate a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables into their meals, helping them to adopt long-term healthy eating patterns, and achieve weight loss and health benefits at the same time. We're excited to extend our relationship with Dr. Barbara Rolls and look forward to years of continued collaboration."
"Obesity rates are still on the rise, and as a researcher, I recognize that people need simple, scientifically sound suggestions for healthy eating with regular physical activity," said Dr. Rolls. "I also strongly believe in the need for balanced food programs that promote both weight loss and health benefits. The Volumetrics approach is a natural addition to Jenny Craig's clinically proven program that focuses on health and practical suggestions for true lifestyle change."
In 2010, an independent two-year clinical trial was published in the Journal of the American Medical Association that showed 92% of participants stuck with the Jenny Craig program for two years, and on average lost 10% of their body weight in the first year. Participants also saw improvements in Quality of Life and blood cholesterol levels, lower depression scores, and improved cardiopulmonary fitness. Those results demonstrate how Jenny Craig's tools, education and personalized counseling provided to each client help them to not only stick with the program and realize meaningful weight loss, but help them achieve a variety of health benefits.
