BETHESDA, Md., April 26, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Jeffrey A. Hawkins, Vice President and General Manager of Reproductive Genetic Health at Illumina, Inc., has been elected to the ACMG Foundation for Genetic and Genomic Medicine Board of Directors. The ACMG Foundation is a national nonprofit foundation dedicated to facilitating the integration of genetics and genomics into medical practice. The board members are active participants in serving as advocates for the Foundation and for advancing its policies and programs. Hawkins has been elected to a 6-year term starting immediately.
Hawkins joined Illumina in 2015 and leads the company's Reproductive Genetic Health business unit. Prior to joining Illumina, he served as Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Program Management for GenMark Diagnostics from the pre-IPO phase in 2009 until his departure in 2015.
For the decade prior to GenMark, Hawkins served in various positions of increasing responsibility across R&D, sales, marketing and manufacturing in the clinical diagnostics field for Hologic, Third Wave Technologies and Abbott Laboratories. He holds a BA in Chemistry with honors from Concordia University and an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management.
