Jefferson Elementary School District and Chevron Energy Solutions Celebrate Solar and Energy Efficiency Project

DALY CITY, Calif., April 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jefferson Elementary School District and Chevron Energy Solutions will dedicate a solar generation and energy efficiency project that is expected to save the district almost $17 million over the project's life.

The project includes solar electric generation facilities at 16 district sites, interior and exterior lighting upgrades, boiler replacements and heating system improvements. Together, these measures are expected to lower by 80 percent the district's purchase of electricity from utilities.

"Our new solar energy system and efficiency improvements will generate significant savings for our district," said Superintendent Bernie Vidales. "Through this project, we're making our schools more environmentally friendly places to learn and we're teaching our children about renewable energy."

Jefferson Elementary School district selected Chevron Energy Solutions to design and build the project. The project was launched in July of 2013 and was completed earlier this year.

The dedication event will take place on Wednesday, April 16, 2014, at 2pm, in the gym of Thomas R. Pollicita Middle School, 550 E. Market Street, Daly City, CA 94014.
