JE Dunn Construction to Serve as Construction Manager on the Wyoming Capitol Square Rehabilitation and Restoration Project
KANSAS CITY, Mo., Sept. 23, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- National contractor JE Dunn Construction has been awarded the $199 million Wyoming State Capitol Square Rehabilitation and Restoration in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The project consists of a 130,000-square-foot renovation of the Historic Wyoming State Capitol, renovation of the 280,000-square-foot Herschler office building, an 83,000-square-foot expansion, and the addition of an 18,000-square-foot central utility plant. The Capitol Square project will help the state modernize its government operations while making safety, mechanical, and electrical upgrades. The Wyoming State Capitol is a National Historic Landmark, one of only 15 current, functioning capitols with this important designation. The Wyoming State Capitol is one of just two capitols that is designated as a historic landmark due to its significance in the history of the country and not just its architecture.
JE Dunn will have three years to complete the phased upgrades. HDR Architecture, Inc. in association with Preservation Design Partnership, LLC and Plan One Architects are the architects for the project.
JE Dunn is developing a national niche in state capitol building renovations after recently completing the $330 million Kansas State Capitol renovation in January 2014, currently working on the $205 million Minnesota State Capitol renovation, and kicking off construction on the $187 million Oregon State Capitol renovation in 2015. JE Dunn brings historic renovation construction experience gained from the Union Station renovation, the Liberty Memorial renovation, and the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art renovation, all located in Kansas City. JE Dunn also has recently renovated projects at the University of Minnesota, including the Northrup Auditorium, Jones Hall, and the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Notable JE Dunn projects in Wyoming include the Western Wyoming Community College Diesel Mechanics addition and Memorial Hospital of Sweetwater County both in Rock Springs, and the St. John's Medical Center Teton Hospital addition and renovation in Jackson, Wyoming.
