J.Crew To Show At NYFW Men's And Women's Spring/Summer 2016 Collections
NEW YORK, Sept. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today marks J.Crew's eighth New York Fashion Week presentation. The show will set the visual tone and creative direction for J.Crew's upcoming spring/summer 2016 season. It will showcase both the men's and women's collections as one integrated presentation.
"I am pleased with what Jenna and the entire design team have created with this collection – it strikes the right balance of who we are and what we do best." – Millard Drexler, chairman and CEO of J.Crew Group, Inc.
"There are certain things within our fashion 'DNA' that we believe in and stand for – stripes, chambray, woven shirting fabrics, casual-ized sequins, ginghams, madras and tailoring. We highlight these ideas throughout the collections, adding a spin of quirk and sophistication. We like to think that J.Crew style should defy time and trends."– Jenna Lyons, president and executive creative director. "With J.Crew style, the one common element is timelessness- the timelessness of a perfect blazer or a crisp white shirt- it is at once familiar and made fresh by changing the context," Lyons continued.
The men's and women's collections will be shown intermingled this year to highlight some of the aesthetic and philosophical synergies. There are unconstructed blazers, crafted from traditional men's shirting fabric along with stripes, ginghams and madras, soft pleated pants-- milky whites and parchment offsetting desert-bleached color. As always, an influence of military and classic workwear shows up in both sides of the collection.
While the full impact of J.Crew's newly appointed womenswear designer, Somsack Sikhounmuong, will not be seen until fall/ winter 2016, he worked alongside of the entire women's design team to fine-tune this collection during his transitional season.
