WASHINGTON, June 9, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Washington (JCRC) is organizing a gathering in solidarity with the people of Israel at the Max Brenner Chocolate Bar in Bethesda, following the deadly terrorist attack that killed four Israelis yesterday at the Max Brenner Café in Tel Aviv.
The solidarity gathering will be TOMORROW, Friday, June 10th 2016 from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm at the Max Brenner Chocolate Bar at 7263 Woodmont Ave, Bethesda, MD 20814.
Speakers at the gathering will include Reuven Azar, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Israel to the United States; Rev. Dr. Rosetta Robinson representing the Council of Churches of Greater Washington; Rabbi Greg Harris, Head Rabbi of Congregation Beth El in Bethesda; Rabbi Baht Weiss, Vice President of Programming at the Washington Board of Rabbis; Pnina Agenyahu, Jewish Agency Senior Emissary (Shlicha) to the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington, and Ron Halber, Executive Director of the JCRC of Greater Washington.
The JCRC is encouraging everyone to share pictures on social media buying chocolate for themselves and others from the Max Brenner Chocolate Bar using the hashtag #PeaceIsSweet. These actions were inspired by similar actions taken this morning at the Max Brenner Café at Sarona Market in Tel Aviv.
"This is a great way for us to come together in support of our brothers and sisters in Israel, the Max Brenner company, and all those around the world who seek peace and oppose violence," said JCRC Executive Director Ron Halber.
Four people were murdered and sixteen wounded yesterday in a terrorist attack at the Max Brenner Café in the heart of Tel Aviv, inside the open-air Sarona Market. The market is adjacent to the Israel Defense Forces and Ministry of Defense headquarters. Israel Police confirmed that the two attackers were arrested after being neutralized.
