JCA announces plan to acquire The Pricing Institute
NEW YORK, Sept. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Jacobson Consulting Applications, Inc. (JCA), a leading technology consultancy for nonprofit organizations, and The Pricing Institute, the leading provider of pricing strategy to cultural organizations across North America, have signed an agreement to incorporate The Pricing Institute as a division of JCA. With this acquisition, JCA will substantially enhance its ability to help arts organizations optimize revenue through more effective pricing of single ticket sales, subscriptions, and other earned income streams, as well as accelerate JCA's plans to expand its product and service offerings within the cultural sector.
Under the purchase agreement for the transaction, JCA will acquire all of the outstanding equity shares of The Pricing Institute. The transaction is expected to close within 30 days.
JCA and The Pricing Institute have been working together for four years and share a large number of clients in North America, including Center Theatre Group, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, Los Angeles Opera, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Roundabout Theatre Company, and the Stratford Festival.
Under this arrangement, JCA will also deepen its existing strategic relationship with UK-based firm Baker Richards (www.baker-richards.com), a co-founder and shareholder in The Pricing Institute. JCA and Baker Richards have developed the box office data-sharing platform element of the UK Audience Finder project (www.audiencefinder.org), a major evidence-based initiative designed to help organizations across the UK develop a collective understanding of audiences to inform effective planning, collaboration and advocacy. The companies now plan to bring this platform to North America. JCA and Baker Richards will also continue to jointly develop and deliver the Revenue Management Application (www.RevenueManagementApplication.com), the most widely used pricing software in the nonprofit arts sector.
"We've been working side by side with The Pricing Institute for the past four years and have a number of clients in common. I've always respected The Pricing Institute's quality of work and their industry-leading position. Bringing the two firms together enhances the synergies of services we can provide to our clients and the cultural sector," said Steve Jacobson, President and CEO, JCA.
"The Pricing Institute and JCA have the same values: A commitment to innovative, high-quality work that delivers strategic value; a collaborative approach to client service; and a deep respect for clients, partners, and colleagues. I look forward to helping JCA expand its arts marketing services," said Steven Roth, President, The Pricing Institute.
"We look forward to continuing to partner with JCA to deliver consulting and software services to help cultural organizations optimize their earned income so they are better able to pursue their missions," said Tim Baker, Director, Baker Richards.
"I'm thrilled to hear about this acquisition. I've worked with JCA and The Pricing Institute on many projects and have nothing but great things to say about both organizations. I'm excited about their combination of skills and smarts and look forward to being a client of the new division for years to come," said Lisa Middleton, Director of Marketing, Lyric Opera of Chicago.
"JCA and The Pricing Institute are both at the top of their fields. I'm looking forward to experiencing what the alignment of The Pricing Institute's marketing expertise with JCA's technical strength can bring to my organization and others," said Tom O'Connor, Director of Marketing and Audience Development, Roundabout Theatre Company.
