LASALLE, Ill., Sept. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Whitney Automotive Group, Inc., formerly JC Whitney & Co. ("JC Whitney"), today announced that it has received over 50,000 sweepstakes entries for its "JC Whitney Centennial Sweepstakes and Charity Event." With just two weeks left before the September 30th entry deadline, hobby car fans and enthusiasts should visit http://100.jcwhitney.com/sweepstakes to enter for a chance to win their choice of two custom vehicles: a 2015 Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Unlimited or a Ford F-150 XLT SuperCrew 4X4. Three finalists will be flown to SEMA Ignited and the winner will be announced at a special presentation honoring founding father and Automotive Hall of Famer Roy Warshawsky. The winner will pick either the Jeep or the Truck, and the other vehicle will be presented at Mecum Auctions on November 14th at Anaheim Convention Center with proceeds benefiting United Way Veterans Programs and Alex Xydias Center for Automotive Arts.
"The more entries, the better the build gets," said Shane Evangelist, CEO of U.S. Auto Parts Network, Inc., the parent company of JC Whitney. "Not only do you enter for a chance to win, but you also get to influence how these vehicles end up. This is a dream sweepstakes for a motorhead, and it includes our leading JC Whitney brands and parts."
Sweepstakes entries are currently being collected and tracked at http://100.jcwhitney.com/ until September 30th. The more entries, the better the build, and the higher the value of the cars. The special anniversary event will be held at SEMA Ignited, the SEMA Show After-Party, at 7pm on Friday, November 6th. The celebration will include special guests and culminate the company's year-long celebration of "100 Years of Everything Automotive," while honoring former Chairman and Hall of Famer Roy Warshawsky and his legacy.
In addition to the Sweepstakes Grand Prize, two prizes of $2,000 gift certificates redeemable for parts available on jcwhitney.com will be awarded to the semi-finalists, and the remaining vehicle will be auctioned off at Mecum Auction on Saturday, November 14th at 11am at the Anaheim Convention Center. Proceeds will go to United Way, which creates pathways out of poverty for veterans in need through their homelessness work and employment programs, and to the Alex Xydias Center for Automotive Arts in Pomona, CA. With shop classes disappearing from the curriculum of high schools, the Alex Xydias Center provides a free two-year program for students seeking careers in the auto industry.
"My Father would be amazed and proud of this multi-tiered charitable event. Touching on three areas close to Roy's heart, it offers automotive enthusiasts a chance to create a dream vehicle; it gives needed support to our veterans; and it introduces a new generation to the world of automotive repair & maintenance," said Roy's daughter, former JCW Chairman, Carol Warshawsky. "Roy worked diligently to make JCW the everything automotive place to go. This sweepstakes reflects that sense of wonder and empowerment. It is a fitting celebration of Roy's 100th year and the centennial of JCW!"
